Programs

Early Head Start
Under the Early Head Start (EHS) program, families are provided with early, continuous, intensive and comprehensive child development and family support services.

The Early Head Start program is designed for families with children under 3. Families have an option of home based care, for service delivery in their homes, or center based care in one of our centers.

Head Start
Head Start (HS) comprehensive services are provided in the areas of health, education, social services and parent involvement. No other early childhood development program has been as extensive and successful as Head Start in meeting the needs of the children, families and the communities it serves. Head Start is for families with children between the ages of 3 and 5. Head Start within the Mazique Parent Child Center has three options:

1) Center based care where emphasis is placed on providing children with the necessary pre-writing, pre-reading and pre-math skills that will prepare them for elementary school.

2) Home based care is founded on the premise that the parent is the primary educator of the child and that learning can take place within the child’s home through the parent’s involvement.

3) APRA center based care, for children of parents who are known to the DC Addiction Prevention Recovery Administration and are in need of support services to enable them to benefit the most from their treatment or after care programs.

Child Day Care Services
The Mazique Parent Child Center has collaborated with the District’s Department of Human Services to blend services with Head Start to ensure a full day, full year experience for duly eligible children.

Teen Mothers Take Charge
Teen Mothers Take Charge (TMTC) was a secondary teen pregnancy prevention program. *Funding discontinued October 2005.
